Sports Premium
Government Sports Funding
Following the success of the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, the government have invested money in improving outcomes for children and encouraging children to become Gold medallists of the future. Schools across the country are receiving additional funding to support this initiative over the next few years. At Mossfield, we are keen to invest heavily in opportunities for our children to take part in a range of activities, including competitions with other schools, competitions in school and introducing children to new sports and activities. This funding is called the Sport Premium, and for the academic year 2023/24, Mossfield Primary have been allocated £18,590
Provision at Mossfield Primary
As a school we already provide high quality physical education within the curriculum and numerous sporting activities outside of it. We are proud of the fact that our extra-curricular sporting provisions are entirely free of charge to pupils.
Our intention is that the Sport Premium funding will further enhance this existing provision for our children. The Governors agree that the funding must be used so that all children benefit, regardless of sporting ability

Our funding in 2024/25 will be used towards the cost of a Sports Coach (£19,617). Teaching staff will observe lessons to improve their own skills and mirror the lesson taught in the next session for their class. Lessons taught will include invasion games, gymnastics, dance and athletics.
The Sports Coach will also supervise Extra-Curricular Sports Clubs every afternoon to enable the children to partake in a range of physical activities including football, gymnastics, multi-skills, dodgeball, archery, fencing and lacrosse.

Governance (taken from OFSTED Subsidiary Guidance)
Inspectors will consider the impact of primary school sport funding on pupil’s lifestyles and physical well-being by taking account of the following factors:
· The increase in participation rates in such activities as games, dance, gymnastics, swimming and athletics.
· The increase and success in competitive school sports.
· How much more inclusive the PE curriculum has become
· The growth in the rate of provision of alternative sporting activities.
· The improvement in partnership work on PE with other schools and other local partners
· Links with other subjects that contribute to pupil’s overall achievement and their greater spiritual, moral, social and cultural skills
· The greater awareness amongst pupils about the dangers of obesity, smoking and other such activities that undermine pupil’s health
· The impact of school’s work on the physical and mental health and well-being of its pupils.
